From the shores of San Jose, you can rent a banca from local fishermen and reach White Island in 10-15 minutes. As the name suggests, the island has white sand that originated from crushed corals. Visitors must pay a minimal entrance fee to the caretaker of the island. It is advisable to bring your own food and drinks as there are no establishments in the island. Cottages can be rented, but we opted to lay on the sand.
Local tourism officers reminded us to be careful when walking around the island as turtles may have laid their eggs on the beach. The clear water that surrounds this island was so inviting, one might not resist from swimming or even try snorkeling around the island.
We were the only visitors of the island at that time, so we simply enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the place.
